Privacy Policy - Spanish Word of the Day

This Privacy Policy explains how Aurora Technologies ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects information when you use our Android app Spanish Word of the Day (the "App"). By using the App you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are

The App is published on Google Play by Aurora Technologies. For any privacy question or request, contact us at auroradev22@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Account information (optional). You can use the App without an account. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and a Google account identifier, and use them to back up and restore your favorites.

2.2 Information created when you use the App

  • Favorites: the words you save as favorites.
  • User ID: we create an anonymous user ID for every installation so that your favorites can be saved, even if you never sign in.
  • Purchase status: whether you have an active Pro subscription or purchase. Payments are processed by Google Play. We never receive your card, UPI or bank details.
  • Technical information: your IP address, app version, device platform and time zone, sent with requests to our servers. We use these to run the service, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the service secure.
  • Reminders: daily word reminders are scheduled on your device and do not send us any data.

2.3 Information collected by third-party services in the App

  • Google Firebase Analytics: how the App is used, such as screens viewed, features used and an app-instance identifier. We use this to understand and improve the App.
  • Google Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports and device information (model, OS version, app state at the time of a crash) to find and fix bugs.
  • Google Firebase Remote Config: basic device and locale information to deliver app settings.
  • Google AdMob (ads): free versions of the App show ads. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, app set ID, IP address (which may be used to estimate your general location), ad interactions and app performance information. It uses these to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud. If you have not given consent, or in regions where required, ads may be non-personalized.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone audio or files. Pronunciation (text-to-speech) runs on your device.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide the App's features: daily words, favorites and reminders.
  • To save your favorites, and to restore them when you sign in on another device.
  • To provide and restore Pro access.
  • To show ads in the free version.
  • To analyse usage, fix crashes and improve the App.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the service secure.
  • To respond to your requests and comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Sharing your information

We share information only as described here:

  • Service providers who process data on our behalf: Google (Firebase, Sign-In, Google Play billing) and our hosting, storage and content-delivery providers (such as Cloudflare, Bunny CDN and Amazon Web Services).
  • Advertising partners: Google AdMob receives the information described in section 2.3 and uses it under Google's Privacy Policy. See also how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
  • Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.

5. Your choices

  • Ads and consent: manage your ad consent at any time in the App under Manage Privacy Choices, where available in your region. You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalisation in your device's Google settings.
  • Notifications: turn them off in the App's settings or in your device settings.
  • Sign-in is optional. You can use the App without an account.

6. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account and its data at any time:

Deletion removes your sign-in link (name and email) and your favorites. Removed data may remain in our database backups for up to 14 days before it is overwritten. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription; cancel it in the Google Play Store.

7. How long we keep information

  • Account and favorites: until you delete your account.
  • Database backups: up to 14 days.
  • Crash reports: about 90 days, under Firebase Crashlytics retention.
  • Analytics: under our Google Analytics retention setting.
  • Records we must keep by law (for example, about purchases): for as long as the law requires.

8. Security

All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We restrict access to our systems and take reasonable steps to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The App is a general-audience educational app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 18, please use the App with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

We and our service providers may store and process information in countries other than yours, including India, the United States and the European Union. We take steps to keep it protected as described in this policy.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, and raise a complaint. To exercise these rights, email auroradev22@gmail.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

13. Third-party links

Words link to their source dictionaries and websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above. Significant changes will also be announced in the App.
